Math with Manipulatives

About Marilyn

Marilyn Wardrop has been involved with teaching children with dyslexia and learning disabilities for twenty three years as a therapeutic Orton-Gillingham tutor. She was aware of many different teaching aids, techniques and mnemonic devices to assist these children in learning basic skills in mathematics. It was only by teaching math with the manipulatives and the three part lesson that she was able to assure each student would be successful and independent while working on their math skills and curriculum.

As a parent of a child with a learning disability, Marilyn has worked in the community to promote "support and effective teaching techniques" for children with learning disabilities by serving in a variety of capacities.

What People are saying about Math Workshops

"Having done many 3rd and 4th year math courses it has been interesting to go back And "see" through this hands-on approach how we get the results. I can see where this approach can go with higher math, and I look forward to exploring that."

"The workshop was excellent. I was asked to help out in September at my child's school. This workshop will make my time there….well let's just say I will be of good service to them."
